Review: Supernaturally by Kiersten White

Title: Supernaturally (Paranormalcy #2)
Author: Kiersten White
Source: purchased

Synopsis:

Evie finally has the normal life she’s always longed for. But she’s shocked to discover that being ordinary can be . . . kind of boring. Just when Evie starts to long for her days at the International Paranormal Containment Agency, she’s given a chance to work for them again. Desperate for a break from all the normalcy, she agrees.

But as one disastrous mission leads to another, Evie starts to wonder if she made the right choice. And when Evie’s faerie ex-boyfriend Reth appears with devastating revelations about her past, she discovers that there’s a battle brewing between the faerie courts that could throw the whole supernatural world into chaos. The prize in question? Evie herself.

So much for normal.

Review:

During this book, Evie is away from the International Paranormal Containment Agency and finally living her own life. Things seem to be going well – she has friends, a great boyfriend, independence... She also finds out how boring “normal” life is. She realizes that she doesn't truly seem to fit in with either world. She is just, different...

Evie also finds out that living in a human world doesn't keep her away from horrible supernatural things. There are several different paranormal beings in this book to keep it somewhat interesting. However, I was pretty bored through most of it. I think that some of the boring day-to-day things were put into the book to show just how boring life was for Evie – but I think that the idea sort of backfired. You don't want to keep your readers bored!

The one thing that interested me throughout the book was Evie's relationship with Jack. I just couldn't figure that one out. Also, I wouldn't say there was much romance involved. Lend was away at college, so he wasn't there during a lot of the book.

Kiersten White is a good writer and I like the humor that she adds to her stories. The book just didn't hold my attention much, until the end. I like the way it ended – there were no big cliffhangers to drive you crazy! I am interested enough to read the next, and final, book in this series. I just hope there is more Lend and Evie time!

  1. Ohh I'm sad you didn't like it that much - I loved it! I love Evie I love Lend and I love the writing! I agree though it wasn't as good as the first.

  2. I hated Evie so much in this book-she kept lying and lying and lying! I was so frustrated with her. And I did not like Jack, which I guess was kind of a good thing ;) I want more Lend and Evie in the next book too!
