Review:

Wicked Nights is the first book in Gena Showalter's new Angels of the Dark series. It's a spin-off of the Lords of the Underworld series, which I have yet to read. I did feel like I was missing out on some things – especially knowing that the hero in the book appeared in at least one of the Lords of the Underworld books. It's not necessary to have read that series in order to enjoy this book though.

The heroine of the story, Annabelle, is institutionalized after being blamed for her parents' murder. She has been through hell and is still a very strong and brave person. She is rescued by Zachariel – a not-so-angelic angel. He is pretty much emotionless. I enjoyed seeing Annabelle grow on him and bring out his softer side.

These two have some great chemistry. It's a sexy book, but the sex isn't graphic. Zachariel is a virgin so that is a nice change from other paranormal romance books. There was some humorous dialogue and a lot of action/suspense to make this an interesting read. There are a lot of intriguing characters in Zachariel's army, which I believe will have books of their own in this series. I'm looking forward to finding out how their stories unfold.
