Review: Finding Cinderella by Colleen Hoover

 Title: Finding Cinderella (Hopeless #2.5)
Author: Colleen Hoover
Source: Purchased

Synopsis:

This novella is a companion novel to the Hopeless series, but can be read as a standalone.

A chance encounter in the dark leads eighteen-year-old Daniel and the girl who stumbles across him to profess their love for each other. But this love comes with conditions: they agree it will only last one hour and it will only be make-believe.

When their hour is up and the girl rushes off like Cinderella, Daniel tries to convince himself that what happened between them only seemed perfect because they were pretending it was perfect. Moments like that with girls like her don’t happen outside of fairytales.

One year and one bad relationship later, his disbelief in insta-love is stripped away the day he meets Six: a girl with a strange name and an even stranger personality. Daniel soon realizes the way he pretended to feel about Cinderella and the way he really feels about Six may not be so different after all. Especially when the two loves of his life end up being one in the same.

Unfortunately for Daniel, finding Cinderella doesn’t guarantee their happily ever after…it only further threatens it.

Review:

Finding Cinderella is #2.5 in the Hopeless series by Colleen Hoover. This novella can be read as a standalone because it's based on background characters from the other two books. However, you may enjoy it a little more if you read the other 2 books first. Sky and Holder make appearances in this novella, which was nice to see.

This story is from the point of view of Daniel – Holder's best friend. He has an encounter in the dark with a girl he feels very connected to. They never see each others faces though, and then she leaves. He's never felt that way around a girl before, and wants to find her. Time goes by without any luck with his search for her, so he tries to move on. And then he meets Six...

Daniel and Six are awesome together. They had immediate chemistry and I love their banter. There's a lot of romance and humor in this novella that I loved. I normally don't give novellas 5 stars. I just don't think that there is enough time for characters to get to know each other. I will give an exception on this novella though. When I was about ¾ of the way through the book, I was thinking that I would possibly give it 4 stars – and then the twist happened. I totally wasn't expecting it and it brought in so much emotion to the book and pulled me in so deeply that I can't help but to give it 5 stars. The only thing that could have made this book better, would be for it to be a full length novel. I just wanted to keep reading more about these characters.

The ebook is currently FREE on Amazon and B&N!
(I'm not sure how long it will last)
