When a sexy stranger asks questions about her brother, Emilie Garza is torn between loyalty to the brother she once idolized and fear of the war-changed man he's become. Derek’s easy smile and quiet strength tempt Emilie to open up, igniting the desire between them and leading Derek to crave a woman he shouldn’t trust.

As the team’s investigation reveals how powerful their enemies are, Derek and Emilie must prove where their loyalties lie before hearts are broken and lives are lost. Because love is too hard to come by to let slip away…

Review:

Hard to Come By is the third book in the Hard Ink series by Laura Kaye. This book is about Derek – who is just an all around great guy. He is a hero, saving a teammate and losing his leg in the process. He also has never had a family or anyone to love him. Instead of being moody and sulking about his life, he has the best sense of humor about everything.

Derek falls for a beautiful woman named Emilie when he tries to get information out of her about her brother. Emilie's brother is a very dangerous man. Derek is unsure of Emilie's participation in her brother's criminal activity.

Emilie is a great character. She is both strong and compassionate. Emilie knows that her brother came home from the military a changed man – but she doesn't realize just what all he is involved in. She is very much a family-oriented person, so going behind her brother's back to get help is hard for her.

You definitely need to start with book #1 in this series – you just can't read these out of order. The main storyline slowly unfolds throughout all these books, and it's getting really exciting. This book has a good balance of action, suspense, and romance. Things get very hot and steamy between Derek and Emilie. The side of Derek that you see in the bedroom is a lot different than the side of him that everyone else gets to see.

The author has done a great job of writing these characters and the storyline. I can't wait to see how it all ends. I'm really looking forward to Beckett's story!
