“Forbidden love on a paradise
planet that’s anything but paradise...Dionne’s Colonization will
keep you guessing.” – Cherie Reich, author of Defying Gravity
Blurb:
Finding a new home has never been so
dangerous.
Andromeda has spent all seventeen years
of her life aboard a deep space transport vessel destined for a
paradise planet. Her safe cocoon is about to break open as Paradise
21 looms only one month away, and she must take the aptitude tests to
determine her role on the new world and her computer
assigned lifemate. As a
great-granddaughter of the Commander of the ship, she wants to live
up to her family name. But, her forbidden love for her childhood
friend, Sirius, distracts her and she fails the tests. The results
place her in a menial role in the new colony and pair her with
Corvus, “the oaf”.
But when Andromeda steps foot on
Paradise 21, her predestined future is the least of her worries.
Alien ghosts from a failed colonization warn her of a deadly threat
to her colony. And when Sirius's ship crashes on the far ridge in an
attempt to investigate, she journeys to rescue him with Corvus.
Andromeda now must convince the
authorities of the imminent danger to protect her new home. What she
didn't expect was a battle of her own feelings for Sirius and Corvus.
Can she save the colony and discover
her true love?
Excerpt:
A flash of remorse turned my stomach as I wondered if the computer would
use the tests to pair us up as well. I’d be stuck with a dummy mate and
Sirius would get someone smart and beautiful. I clenched my teeth,
stifling the rising wave of anger and frustration building up in my
chest. I wanted to stand up and scream, but
instead I tried harder, exhausting my memory, pulling at any
information I could recall. All of a sudden, I cared about my destiny
and my lifemate pairing. Too bad the wake-up call had come too late.

My review:
My review:
Colonization is the first book in the
new Paradise Reclaimed series by Aubrie Dionne. It's a sci-fi romance
revolving around a 17 year old girl named Andromeda. She has lived
aboard a space ship all her life along with the other colonists. They
are heading toward Paradise 21 – a planet that their colony can
hopefully thrive on. Before landing on this mysterious planet, she is
given an aptitude test to see which boy she is matched with and also
to see what job best suits her abilities on the new planet.
Andromeda is unhappy with the results
of the test. She has dreamt of being paired with Sirius, her
childhood crush. Instead she is paired with Corvus, a boy she has no
desire to be with. As time goes by, her feelings for Corvus get
stronger and stronger. A love triangle ensues and Andromeda must look
deep inside to make sense of her emotions and figure out who she
wants to be with. Both guys are great and they each have their own
wonderful qualities. I was torn between them for much of the book.
The world building in Colonization is
wonderful. The author vividly describes Paradise 21, and it sounds
like a beautiful place. It's very deadly though, and Andromeda is
determined to find the cause of what is infecting the colony. This
seemed like a pretty quick read. There are so many interesting things
happening to keep your attention – especially in the last third of
the book. I don't often read sci-fi, but I feel that this has a very
unique plot. I really enjoyed this, and I think that fans of YA
paranormal romance would enjoy this as well.
Thank you for this wonderful review! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
