When did you begin writing?
I began writing in 2008 when my
daughter ran out of vampire stories to read. When she first asked me
to write her a book, I had to force myself not to laugh. But, with
both her and my husband telling me I could do it, I sat down at my
keyboard and started to type. And I’ve been typing ever since.
Since the voices in my head scream nonstop day and night, it’s
either that or go crazy.
What drew you to the paranormal romance
genre?
As a reader, I’ve always loved
paranormal romances. As a writer, there are just so many things you
can do with it. I like the idea of turning a monster into a hero and
a hero into a monster.
Is Something Witchy your first
novel?
No, it’s just my first published
novel. I actually manage to pound out two, sometimes three, a year.
And that’s not even counting the unfinished goodies waiting to be
completed on my laptop.
What would your ideal career be, if you
couldn't be an author?
Not an author? (shudders at the
thought). I guess I’d have to say a copyeditor. I like the idea
of reading a book before everyone else gets to and getting paid to do
it. Since I totally suck with commas, though—seriously, just ask
my copyeditors—that’s a dream I will probably never see
come true.
Which of your characters is your
favorite?
Ember, hands down. Strong, determined,
independent, insecure, funny, beautiful…there’s just so much
about her to love. She’s every teenage girl I know wrapped up in
one tiny package.
What are some of your favorite
movies/tv shows?
The Harry Potter series, The Covenant,
and the Underworld series are my favorite movies. I love Vampire
Diaries and CW’s new series, Arrow. There’s also The Walking
Dead and Hell on Wheels on AMC and Teen Wolf on MTV. Other than that,
I’d really rather have a book and an iPod.
What is a book that you're dying to
read?
I’m anxiously awaiting the second
book in the Outer Bounds series by Sara King. I plan to take a whole
two days away from my computer just so I can read it. My editors
might kill me, but it’ll so be worth it.
What do you do in your spare time?
Spare time? (stares blankly at the
screen for ten seconds) Between writing and the craziness of my life,
I don’t really have a lot of spare time. When I do find a minute
to breathe, I spend it with the loves of my life, my husband, Ronnie,
and my kids, Trey, Ben, Sierra, and Taylor.
What are you
currently working on?
I am currently working on Something
Wicked and Something Wanton, the second and third books in
the Mystics & Mayhem series. Thanks to the awesome editing staff
at Parasite Publications, it should be a very short wait for everyone
to find out what Ember gets herself into next.

My name is Ember Blaylock. Welcome to the World of Weird—better known as my life.
It wasn’t always like this. I was once a normal high school senior, just filling out college apps and trying to stay sane long enough to get out of Moonlight, Missouri. Preferably before I ended up in a straight-jacket out of sheer boredom.
At first, my only problems were my increasingly unwanted ability to see the dead and my desperation to remove the stalker known as my ex-boyfriend from my life. Somewhere along the line I must have pissed off the Bad Karma Fairy. Maybe I stepped on the wrong toadstool or peed in Loki’s personal swimming pool—I really don’t know. All I do know is I’m about to have the worst week of my life. Maybe the worst week of any teenager’s life. Ever.
All because of a dead guy.
From the second pale, too-hot-to-be-real Nathan Ashley stepped out of the wreckage of his mangled sports car, my life spiraled into complete and utter chaos. One minute, I'm quasi-normal, the next I’m being kidnapped by a vampire, I’m having weird, creepy powers sprout up out of nowhere, and I’m running from a demon who wants to get more familiar with my anatomy…or kill me. Again. Yeah, did I mention he's done it before?
Anybody know if those straight-jackets come in pink?

It would so help with her love of YA and School books.

ReplyDeleteI need "free stuff". With a gift certificate I could actually PAY for books (or rather buy my wife the paranormal romance books she thrives).
ReplyDeleteI am so selfish - hangs head in shame - I would try to make a dent in my kindle books wish list of course LOL Thank you for sharing with us today. I am definitely looking forwards to Something Witchy :)
ReplyDeleteWith Christmas sneaking up on me, I could sure use that gift card!! Plus I'm always in need of thermal mugs!!

ReplyDeleteChristmas presents :)
ReplyDeleteA lot of YA dystopian books.
ReplyDelete-Britt T.
Loads and Loads of books
ReplyDeletemore books!! yay!!
ReplyDeleteBooks!
ReplyDeleteI would definitely buy a lot of books. My little sister is getting a Kindle Fire for Christmas, so I would love for her to have all of her favorites!
ReplyDeleteBooks, of course! ;) I have 7 nephews and 1 niece, and they are all getting books for Christmas, so some of it would go for them.
ReplyDeleteWell, I do have a massive to read list...I would also gift a few copies of favorites to friends, because the only thing better than new books is sharing books you love with others.
ReplyDeleteI am not sure if I would clear out a majority of my wishlist or finally break down and get the Kindle HD. I would lean more toward the Kindle HD I think because my regular Fire is starting to run slow because of all the books on it. If I do that,I can give my niece my Fire and continue trying to turn her into a book nerd like her auntie!
ReplyDeleteI cannot wait to read the book. It is next on my TBR list. Downloaded and ready to go!
Thanks for the amazing giveaway and congratulations on the amazing release.
Best wishes,
Marlena

ReplyDeleteI'd buy a lot of book off my Amazon wishlist, maybe graphic novels or a couple of boxed sets of YA.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the giveaway! I would buy lots of books for myself lol and for friends for Christmas. Aww so nice you got into writing by writing a book for your daughter. I love paranormal romances. I think paranormal is great because you can really do anything you want with it. I love Vampire Diaries an Arrow!
ReplyDeleteBooks, of course, probably mostly graphic novels. I don't have nearly enough books scattered on my floor, sofa, and bookshelves.
ReplyDeleteI'd also buy Christmas gifts for my friends/family, but they'd probably end up getting books too.
Books and Christmas gifts.
