Interview and giveaway with Amanda J. Greene

Where are you from?
I was born, raised, and live in Southern California.

What inspired you to become a writer?

Reading amazing books is what inspired me to become a writer. I have always been very imaginative and never really knew how to channel my imagination until I became a ravenous reader in middle school. I love creating characters and worlds that people can slip into by just opening a book and turning a page.

When did you begin writing?
I began writing in middle school and was hooked ever since. I wrote the original rough drat of Caressed by Moonlight when I was about twelve. A few years ago, I found the folder I had kept it in and decided to breath new life into the story. Over one summer I decided I want to publish it, my fiancé was deployed in Iraq and I was not taking summer classes - It was the perfect project to occupy my time.

How did you come up with the title of your books?
I prefer to finish my manuscript before I give it a title. I usually make a list of possible titles that I then go through with my friend, Rebecca. From there, I narrow it down until there is only one left. I try to pick the best title based on my characters, plots, and important scenes within the book.

What is your biggest challenge of being an author?
The biggest challenge of being an author is marketing, trying to get people to notice your work. I have spent countless hours searching the web for places where I can advertise my book and finding those reviewers that are willing to give a new author a chance.

Do you ever experience writer’s block?
I do experience writers block on occasion. Though, I think mine might be different than usual. I generally know how I want my book to go and do a rough outline, but when I try to stick to the outline I find it hard to write…to put my story ideas down on paper.

How many books have you written?
I have written 3 books and I am currently working on my fourth, Caressed by Night. I am not sure when I will be able to polish and publish the other books, but Caressed by Night will be released this coming winter.

What do you do in your spare time?
I go to school full time, work part time, and I am a military wife – all of that takes up most of my time. On my spare time is when I write and read, though those two activities come second to spending time with my family and friends. I come from an Italian background and family is everything.

Who is your favorite author?
My two favorite authors are Johanna Lindsey and J.R. Ward.

What are you currently working on?
I am currently working on the second book within my Rulers o Darkness series, Caressed by Night. If everything goes as planned, Caressed by Night will be released toward the end of the year.

Thank you so very much for the interview
I wish everyone happy reading,

  4. I really liked that you began writing so early on and that you kept your first rough draft. That's great that you were able to work on it and eventually publish it.
