Follow Me Friday!

Yay, it's that time of week again where bloggers can connect with other bloggers. Today's question is:

Do you judge a book by it's cover?

Ok, yes...I confess! I am such a sinner, I don't know how I live with myself. If I'm at a store and I see a cover that doesn't appeal to me - I don't even pick it up and read what it's about. I have, however, bought books just because the cover was pretty. Why? It's hard to explain. Maybe it's partly because I am a member of the female species and therefore I am attracted to shiny pretty things. Reason #2 - I, being the book nerd that I am, collect books not only because I love to read but because they make my bookshelf look more attractive. Reason #3 - I am an aspiring Graphic Designer. I cannot help but be drawn to attractive things. My goal is to make things look good and I dream of designing book covers one day. Now to defend myself a little, I'm not as vein as this sounds. Really. Books are really the only things I judge. Heck, most days I throw my hair back in a scrunchie, wear jeans with men's t-shirts, and I have an aversion to makeup and jewelry. So, I'm not that much of a girlie girl - but when it comes to books I can't help but want pretty looking ones :) I can admit though that some of the "pretty" books I've bought ended up being really boring. Do I learn? No. Hey - look at that book over there! What a pretty cover! I have no idea what it's about but I'm gonna buy it anyway!

  1. lol. Pretty books grab my attention but I'm kind of hard to please. A good cover just isn't good enough.

  2. Seriously, those are pretty good justifications for your answer, LOL! I judge them too, but with a qualification.

    Happy Friday!

  3. Pretty sure we all judge a book by its cover in some ways. Why else would we decide to pick up a book? I loved reading Keri Arthur's Riley Jenson series but was embarrassed to read them in public, ie: high school, with the covers. And this was before Hide-a-covers, so yeah, but I still totally love the series.

Covers are what give us a slight inside look to what the story's about so we can make a 1-second decision to tell if its the book for us and I don't think there's anything wrong with that!

  5. Book covers are so much fun, it’s pretty awesome that you want to design some! I wouldn’t say a cover can make or break a book, but a good cover never hurts*** I’m a new follower, and new to friday follow-

  6. Hi! New follower here! Would love for you to follow me. Nice to meet you.

For me, it is the cover and the title that tempt me to read the blurb. If the blurb reads great, I'll grab the book. I remember the first time I saw Harry Potter's book covers, I was like, O_o...not sure if I liked them. Love the inside but the covers weren't really to my taste.
    Happy Follow Friday!!!

  7. Ha ha! You crack me up. You and I are a lot a like. I have an aversion of makeup as well. I do like jewelry, although only earrings and rings. Well, I only wear one ring--my wedding ring. And, my earrings are usually very simple. But, yet, I'm still attracted to pretty book covers. :)

  8. The bad thing about pretty covers is, when shopping without a list, I go for those first. Although I never buy a book without being sold on the description, the other books don't usually stand a chance. I'm a new follower! My FF is at Coffee Table Reviews
